Classroom Course
This is a one-day course designed to give participants a solid understanding of the basic structure of Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety legislation. Participants will learn to successfully locate information in the OHS Handbook by completing individual exercises and participating in group work. Each participant will receive an OHS Handbook as part of the course materials.
COURSE TOPICS INCLUDE:
- Overview of the different types of legislation that may impact a workplace 
- Structure and content of Alberta's OHS Act, Regulations, and Code 
- Locating information in Alberta's OHS Legislation Handbook 
- Overview of the OHS compliance and enforcement tools used in Alberta 
- Certification - This course has a written test and skills check component. Participants must achieve a minimum score of 70% on a closed-book written test and complete one case study for course certification. An Alberta OHS Legislation handbook is permitted during the written test. - Prerequisites - None required at this time.
