Labour force shortages are an issue facing many local employers.  In an effort to mitigate this challenge, Economic Development Lethbridge is coordinating and administering the Lethbridge Rural Renewal Stream (RRS) program.  This program makes it possible for approved employers to extend job offers to non-permanent residents or to support current staff with a Permanent Resident (PR) application (assuming they meet the criteria outlined in the program requirements). 
 
Eligibility for this program is currently limited to employers operating a business in the industry sectors outlined below:

• Manufacturing

• Construction

• Architectural, Engineering & Related Services

• Health Care & Social Assistance

Employers must be approved to use the Lethbridge Rural Renewal Stream by the Partnership Council (the committee that oversees this initiative) before they are permitted to use the program.  The approval process ensures that participating companies understand and agree to abide by the guidelines and rules that govern this initiative. 
 
Information for employers interested in applying can be found on the Information for Employers page on our website.  Please take a look at this to learn more about employer requirements and expectations.  You should also review the application process to familiarize yourself with how the program works.  This will help to minimize confusion surrounding how the program is  administered.
 
Employers interested in applying to become an approved employer are required to fill out and submit an Employer Information Form.  Once you have completed this form, please email a signed copy to immigration@chooselethbridge.ca.  The Partnership Council will make a determination on your eligibility based on your responses and get back to you regarding your application status within 30 days of receiving your form. 
 
Please note that employers are required to respond to all questions on the application form.  Incomplete applications will not be considered. Once employers are approved, they are required to forward vacant postings they wish to fill through the Partnership Council.
